STATEMENT
With these photo drawings, I am dealing with essentially two kinds of pictorial reality; the reality of the photograph and the reality of the drawing. I begin by taking mostly 4"x6" photos (a standard snapshot size) of things that interest me visually and sociologically. Two or more photos are then juxtaposed together and adhered to a surface, which acts as the genesis for extending these forms with colored pencil. These images of accepted visual reality are then combined to create an alternate reality and dialog with the viewer; while the images look somewhat familiar, they are not. My intention is to make something extraordinary out of the ordinary.
